Album Title: Come Away With Me
Artist: Norah Jones
Release Date: 2002
If there ever was a breakthrough pop jazz album for 2003
it would be Norah Jones' self-titled debut. Listening to her
at work during lunch break one day, I suddenly was reminded
of Diana Krall and Bonnie Rait. Her vocal stylings and catchy
melodies are a fusion of jazz and bluegrass. Yet, she maintains
a deep timbre that is entirely her own.
Easy favorites are "Don't Know Why", "Come
Away with Me" and a classic remake of "The Nearness
of You". Personal ones would be "Shoot the Moon",
"Feelin' the Same Way All Over Again" and "Seven
Years".
Overall, Norah's music is a sincere mix of innocence, whimsy
and romance. Something you can put on your player when you
are in the mood for relaxing and or contemplating. It's a
must buy for the avant-garde romantics of this generation.
Heck, you do not have to think twice about getting it
Even
the Grammies think this is a great album!
