Album
Title: A Rush Of Blood To The Head
Artist: Coldplay
Release Date: 2002
Coldplay's second album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head, slightly
differs from the Coldplay style we were first introduced in
Parachutes. A Rush Of Blood To The Head is almost nothing
like their sweetly melancholic first album. It is more diverse
and quite experimental. From being subdued, the band has become
more aggressive and is now out in full force.
The album starts off with the hard-hitting clang of guitar
riffs in "Politik", then mellows down in the 'Yellowish'
"In My Place". "The Scientist" is reminiscent
of Sparks with the recurring theme of lost love. With Chris
Martin's honest lyrics and haunting voice, you cannot help
it but feel for the guy. He utters words in melodic tones
than never fail to hit the spot especially when he sings about
love, or lost love at that.
"Clocks" reminds me of an old new wave song. It
is probably one of the livelier songs in the album alongside
"Daylight" and "A Whisper".
All in all, the album is not that bad. It is definitely more
upbeat than their first. Maybe if you give it more time, it
will eventually grow into you. But the first album will always
be the best. That's what I think so at least. (4 out of 5)
